A major tragedy has struck Gujarat after the Gambhira bridge, a crucial link connecting Anand and Vadodara, collapsed on Wednesday.
At least three people have lost their lives in the incident, which saw multiple vehicles, including a truck and a tanker, fall into the Mahisagar River below.
The shocking collapse has brought traffic to a complete standstill, severing a vital transportation route in the state.
Gujarat Minister Rushikesh Patel officially confirmed the death toll, stating, “Three persons killed in bridge collapse in Vadodara district.” Emergency services and disaster response teams were rushed to the spot to conduct search and rescue operations.
This incident raises serious questions about infrastructure safety and maintenance protocols.
The collapse has led to significant disruption for commuters and commercial transport between the key districts of Anand and Vadodara.

According to Minister Patel, the bridge was originally constructed in 1985.
