India arm-twists Pakistan into handing over Purnam Kumar Shaw After Op Sindoor Heat
BSF Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw has returned to India after spending 21 days in Pakistan's custody.
Shaw was handed over at the Joint Check Post in Attari, Amritsar, just days after India’s successful Operation Sindoor Heat and mounting diplomatic pressure on Islamabad.
Shaw had accidentally crossed the international border on April 23 while on duty guarding farmers in Punjab, armed and in uniform.
Turkey Boycott: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has publicly backed Pakistan during India’s Operation Sindoor, calling PM Shehbaz Sharif his “precious brother” and praising the rare friendship between their nations. The message sparked outrage across India, with calls for a total boycott of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Shehbaz Sharif thanked Erdogan on X, while reports confirmed that Turkish-made drones were used in the conflict. Indian travel platform Ixigo suspended bookings to Turkey and Azerbaijan. Though symbolic, the $400 million Indian tourism market loss could still impact Turkey’s economy and image.
