Shocking footage has emerged showing jihadist gunmen roaming the halls of Syrian President Bashar Assad's palace in Aleppo, as insurgents from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group and allied militias launched a surprise offensive.
The video, filmed by the militants, shows them exploring the palace's darkened rooms and climbing its marble staircase.
This bold attack came after HTS and allied groups stormed government-controlled areas in northern Syria, briefly capturing parts of Aleppo.
Despite heavy losses, the Syrian military, supported by Russian airstrikes, successfully thwarted the insurgents’ advance.
Syrian forces are now regrouping for a counteroffensive with support from Iranian military advisors.
The attack on the palace highlights the ongoing instability in the region and the relentless efforts by jihadist groups to challenge Assad’s rule
