Despite earlier declines, violence surged in 2022 and 2023 due to intensified security operations. Naxalite influence has shrunk significantly, with affected districts dropping to 38 in April 2024. Amit Shah aims to eradicate LWE by March 2026.

Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: In a major anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division neutralized 22 Maoists in two separate encounters. The first gunfight took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where 18 Maoists were killed. Another encounter in Kanker district led to the elimination of four more insurgents. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in the operation. Weapons and explosives were recovered from the sites.
