SC seeks Gujarat govt's reply on Asaram's plea for suspension of life sentence in 2013 rape case

Jailed self-proclaimed godman Asaram sought a suspension of his life sentence in a 2013 rape case from the Supreme Court, citing medical grounds. The court has agreed to hear his plea and issued a notice to the Gujarat government seeking a response. Asaram is currently serving a life sentence in a separate rape case in Jodhpur.
