SC lets ex-DGP's convicted son to surrender in Odisha

The Supreme Court allowed Biti Hotra Mohanti, convicted of sexually assaulting a German tourist in 2006 and sentenced to seven years in prison, to surrender at Cuttack in Odisha instead of a jail in Rajasthan. Mohanti, who had absconded in 2006 while on parole and lived under a pseudonym, claimed through his counsel, Nakul Divan, that he has stage-4 cancer and may not receive adequate treatment in Rajasthan jail.
