BREAKING: Cloudburst Devastates Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir | 4 Dead As Floods Swallow Villages
A sudden cloudburst wreaked havoc in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, leaving at least four people dead and several others injured.
The disaster struck Janglote village during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, triggering flash floods that destroyed homes, roads, and even a police station.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed that the railway track and NH-44 were also damaged, while the military and civilian forces rushed into rescue operations.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief and ordered immediate relief and evacuation.
Authorities issued a weather advisory, warning residents to stay away from rivers and landslide-prone areas as heavy rainfall continues.
The Ujh river is already flowing near danger level, raising fears of more flooding.
This tragedy comes just days after Kishtwar’s deadly cloudburst, which killed over 50 people, amplifying concerns about recurring disasters during the monsoon season in Jammu and Kashmir.
