'Choose Friendship’: Kabul’s First Reaction As Russia Becomes First To Recognize Taliban Government

In a historic and controversial move, Russia has become the first nation to officially recognise the Taliban government in Afghanistan.

The announcement was met with cautious optimism on the streets of Kabul, where many Afghans are now urging neighboring powers like Iran, Pakistan, and India to “choose friendship” over continued conflict.

Locals say the recognition brings hope for stability, economic revival, and an end to international isolation.

“War brings only destruction.

We want peace and cooperation,” said Ahmad Zia Popal, a Kabul resident.

The Taliban, still sanctioned by the West and condemned for its human rights record—especially on women’s rights—called Russia’s decision “courageous” and a model for others.

While global criticism looms, many ordinary Afghans see this as a turning point.

Moscow’s move also raises geopolitical questions as it deepens its footprint in the region amid growing tensions with the West.

Davey: Super-injunction was a cover-up

Sir Ed Davey accused Tories of letting down Afghans who supported British forces and protecting its ministers. It comes as a super-injunction blocking reporting about the “horrific” leak of data was lifted. The Ministry of Defence only became aware of the breach when excerpts from the dataset were posted anonymously on a Facebook group in August 2023, and a super-injunction was granted at the High Court in an attempt to prevent the Taliban from finding out about the leak. Trump’s Fierce Warning to Putin as Russia Bombs Ukraine despite Alaska talks|‘All Options on Table’

U.S. President Donald Trump is signaling a tougher stance on Russia as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that all options remain open for new sanctions amid Moscow’s intensified bombardment of Ukraine. Bessent called Putin’s actions “despicable and defiant,” marking the strongest hint yet of looming economic penalties. Despite Trump’s earlier hopes for diplomacy after his Alaska summit with Putin, frustration is mounting as Russian strikes escalate, fueling speculation that sanctions—or even broader confrontation—could push the U.S. and Russia closer to all-out conflict. #Trump #Putin #RussiaUkraineWar #USSanctions #ScottBessent #UkraineWar #Geopolitics #WorldWar3 #TrumpVsPutin #BreakingNews #USRussiaTensions #UkraineConflict #MoscowStrikes #DiplomacyFail #GlobalSecurity #TrumpSummit #AlaskaSummit #PutinBombings #USForeignPolicy #RussiaSanctions #WarEscalation #PoliticalDrama #InternationalCrisis #UkraineUpdates #EconomicWar #TrumpThreatens #GlobalOrder #USPolitics #WhiteHouseMoves #KremlinCrisis Also Read Donald Trump Calls India Trade ‘Totally One-Sided,’ Imposes New Tariffs Amid Russia Oil Dispute :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/donald-trump-calls-india-trade-totally-one-sided-imposes-new-tariffs-amid-russia-oil-dispute-7847665.html?ref=DMDesc Zelenskyy Calls Modi Ahead Of SCO Summit, Days Before PM’s Meeting With Putin :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/zelenskyy-calls-modi-ahead-of-sco-summit-days-before-pm-s-meeting-with-putin-7845961.html?ref=DMDesc Trump’s Tariffs Face Legal Blow, US Court Tags It Illegal :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/trump-tariffs-face-legal-blow-us-court-tags-it-illegal-7845261.html?ref=DMDesc ~HT.96~

EU Chief Kill Bid: Russia Denies Trying To Kill Ursula von der Leyen In GPS Jamming Attack

Russia has firmly denied allegations of jamming GPS signals on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s flight to Bulgaria. The incident occurred just days after von der Leyen called Putin a “predator,” sparking suspicions of deliberate interference. Her plane suffered a GPS blackout near Plovdiv Airport, forcing pilots to land using paper maps. Bulgarian authorities linked the case to rising GPS jamming across Europe, widely blamed on Russia. The scare adds new strain as von der Leyen pushes for a stronger European army to counter Moscow. #Russia #EU #UrsulaVonDerLeyen #Putin #GPSSpoofing #AirSafety #Europe #BreakingNews #FlightScare #Bulgaria #NATOTensions #AviationNews #Kremlin #DmitryPeskov #GPSJamming #VonDerLeyen #EuropeanUnion #PutinPredator #AirSecurity #SCO2025 #Geopolitics #Moscow #UkraineWar #EUvsRussia #DefenseSpending #RussiaTensions #EuropeanArmy #ChinaSummit #IndiaRussia #WestVsRussia #PlaneCrisis Also Read Russia, China Oppose 'Discriminatory Sanctions' Against BRICS Countries: Putin :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/russia-china-oppose-discriminatory-sanctions-against-brics-countries-putin-7846217.html?ref=DMDesc Jaishankar Meets Putin in Moscow Amid Global Power Shifts :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/external-affairs-minister-s-jaishankar-holds-meeting-with-russian-president-putin-in-moscow-011-7836759.html?ref=DMDesc Amid Trump Tariffs, Jaishankar Urges Stronger India-Russia Trade :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/amid-trump-tariffs-jaishankar-urges-stronger-india-russia-trade-011-7836083.html?ref=DMDesc ~HT.410~ED.103~
