BREAKING: Taliban Kills 16 Soldiers In North Waziristan, Many Injured | Pakistan Suicide Bombing
In one of the deadliest attacks in recent months, a suicide bomber from the Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction of the Pakistani Taliban rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a military convoy in North Waziristan, killing 16 soldiers.
The blast also damaged nearby houses, leaving at least six children injured as roofs collapsed under the impact.
The attack took place in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a region that has witnessed a surge in violence since the Taliban's return to power in neighboring Afghanistan in 2021.
Pakistani authorities have repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of offering safe havens to these militants — an allegation Kabul continues to deny.
With over 290 fatalities in similar attacks this year alone, mostly targeting Pakistani security forces, Islamabad’s concerns over cross-border militancy are growing.
The situation further exposes the fragile security structure in Pakistan’s tribal regions despite years of military campaigns.
