Tornadoes Rip Through Texas Near Lubbock, Injuring 3 And Leaving Thousands Without Power In Chaos

Tornadoes tore through northwest Texas on Thursday, striking areas near Lubbock and leaving a trail of destruction.

Over 13,000 homes lost power, and at least three people were injured in Hockley County.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning at 7:39 p.m., calling the storm a “life-threatening situation.” While Lubbock was spared a direct hit, severe thunderstorms, wind speeds of up to 80 mph, and hail the size of softballs wreaked havoc across rural communities, flooding roads and damaging homes throughout the affected counties.
