Russia claims President Vladimir Putin narrowly escaped a Ukrainian drone strike during his visit to the Kursk region on May 20.
According to Air Defence Commander Yuriy Dashkin, Putin’s helicopter was in the "epicentre" of a large-scale drone attack, with one drone shot down near his flight path.
Russia says over 1,170 drones were destroyed between May 20–22.
Officials are now probing whether the strike was an attempted assassination or a psychological operation by Ukraine.
No injuries or damages were reported, and Putin’s convoy continued as planned.
