France BLASTS Durov, Claims Allegations To Be ‘Fake and Denies Interfering…’ In Romanian Election
France has denied allegations of interfering in Romania’s presidential elections after Telegram founder Pavel Durov claimed a “Western European government” asked him to block Romanian conservatives ahead of the vote.
Durov hinted at France with a baguette emoji and accused French intel chief Nicolas Lerner of personally approaching him.
France called the accusations “unfounded” and blamed Moscow for interference in the earlier annulled round.
The tight runoff between centrist Nicusor and Euroskeptic Simion is now mired in deeper controversy.
In a historic and high-stakes election, centrist and pro-EU candidate Nicușor Dan has defeated ultranationalist rival George Simion to become the next President of Romania. With 100% of votes counted, Dan secured nearly 54% of the vote, reversing Simion’s first-round lead and delivering a major blow to Trump-style nationalism in Eastern Europe.
