A tragic stampede at the Lairai Devi temple in Goa’s Shirgao village claimed six lives and left around 80 injured during the fire-walking ritual of the Lairai Zatra festival.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed the fatalities and pledged full support to victims' families.
Five of the injured are critical and on ventilator support, according to state health minister Vishwajit Rane.
