Heavy rains and flash floods have killed at least 30 people in Beijing and Hebei, with Beijing’s Miyun district alone reporting 28 deaths. Landslides and rising river levels have intensified the crisis, prompting President Xi Jinping to order “all-out” rescue operations. Over 80,000 residents have been evacuated, and 136 villages are without power. With over 543mm of rainfall recorded, infrastructure damage is extensive. Authorities have issued top-level flood alerts as emergency teams race to prevent further casualties and devastation.
