Manchester arena terrorist attacks prison officers
Manchester Arena bomb plotter Hashem Abedi has attacked prison officers at HMP Frankland, throwing boiling oil before stabbing them with improvised weapons.
The Prime Minister has vowed to upgrade struggling rail services between Manchester and Yorkshire as he announced £415 million in transport funding. It comes after delays to the electrification of the TransPennine route upgrade between Manchester and York following the dropping of the Phase 2 HS2 extension.
