Russia has unveiled the ‘Posokh,’ a portable, ytterbium-based laser air defense system capable of disabling Ukrainian drones within a 2 km range using invisible laser beams. The announcement follows successful tests and comes as Russia escalates airstrikes on Ukraine. On July 28, a drone and missile barrage hit Kyiv, injuring eight civilians, including a child. The Darnytskyi district was among the hardest hit. With 324 drones launched overnight, Ukraine’s air defenses are under mounting pressure amid ongoing conflict.

On a devastating night for Ukraine, Russia launched an overwhelming assault using 324 drones and 7 missiles, targeting key infrastructure and civilian areas. A multi-storey apartment building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district was hit, leaving eight injured, including a three-year-old child.
