Controversial Cardinal Becciu won't join conclave to choose Pope Francis' successor
The cardinal, who was convicted of embezzlement in 2023 by a Vatican court of first instance, decided not to attend the proceedings after days of controversy.

He also had suffered from chronic lung disease and recently had been hospitalized for 38 days due to respiratory issues that led to double pneumonia.
