Service celebrates life of girl killed in Southport
Mourners have lined streets decorated with pink ribbons as a “special day” is held to celebrate the life of a seven-year-old killed in the Southport knife attack.
A horse-drawn carriage arrived at St John’s Church in Birkdale, near Southport, for the funeral of Elsie Dot Stancombe.

A three-minute silence was observed at 3pm on Tuesday in Southport to mark one year since the attack. Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, were all killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on 29th July 2024. People were asked not to leave flowers at the scene or at the schools the girls attended as the town continues to rebuild after the tragedy. Report by Jonesia. The Government has pledged £5 million for a renovation project in memory of the three young girls murdered in Southport. Sir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner met the parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe, Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King in Downing Street on Tuesday. The Town Hall gardens in Southport will be renovated in their memory, a project the families have said is “rooted in love, resilience and unity”. Report by Covellm. Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears as she paid tribute to her late husband Ozzy Osbourne at his coffin procession in Birmingham on Wednesday. The procession was accompanied by a live brass band performance by musicians from Bostin’ Brass. The government has announced plans to build 40,000 new homes on brownfield railway sites. Discussing the plans,Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said it will lead to the "highest rate of house building in 40 years".
