Thousands of protestors have gathered across the country to counter planned anti-immigration and far-right demonstrations.

There were widespread concerns of violence and rioting this evening with police deploying thousands of officers to prevent unrest.

However police were met with largely calm and peaceful counter-protests and anti-racism demonstrators.
