Southport attack: Rudakubana leaves court after being named
A 17-year-old charged with the murder of three girls in a knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class has departed from court, where a judge ruled he could be named.
Axel Rudakubana, from Banks in Lancashire, wore a grey tracksuit which he pulled up to cover much of his face when he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday morning.

A three-minute silence was observed at 3pm on Tuesday in Southport to mark one year since the attack. Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, were all killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on 29th July 2024. People were asked not to leave flowers at the scene or at the schools the girls attended as the town continues to rebuild after the tragedy. Report by Jonesia. The Government has pledged £5 million for a renovation project in memory of the three young girls murdered in Southport. Sir Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner met the parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe, Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King in Downing Street on Tuesday.
