An Air Europa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, Flight UX045, experienced severe turbulence en route from Madrid, Spain, to Montevideo, Uruguay, resulting in an emergency landing in Brazil and injuring 30 passengers.
The unexpected turbulence occurred on Monday and was so intense that it threw passengers from their seats, with one man even getting stuck in an overhead compartment.
Fernando Collor, Brazil’s former president, has been arrested and ordered to begin serving his prison sentence for corruption. Convicted in 2023 for accepting $3.5 million in bribes to facilitate contracts with Petrobras and UTC Engenharia, Collor's sentence was issued after his appeals were exhausted.
