Iran President Ebrahim Raisi Confirmed Dead: 'Helicopter Completely Burnt In Crash, Wreckage Found
Iran's president, Ebrahim Raisi, has been declared dead, according to Reuters.
Raisi was traveling over the northwest Iranian province of East Azerbaijan when his helicopter made a "hard landing," according to statements from Tehran.
On Sunday, he was on his way back from a trip to Azerbaijan.
There have been reports of bad weather.
After hours of searching, the aircraft wreckage was found in the woodlands.
According to reports, Hossein Amirabdollahian, the nation's foreign minister, was also aboard the Bell 212 helicopter.
Additionally, state TV reported that the rescue teams' efforts have been hindered by fog.
