Crime stats scandal in DC: Justice dept opens probe; possible manipulation alleged

The Justice Department is investigating the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) for allegedly manipulating crime data to falsely portray a decrease in crime rates. This inquiry, led by the US Attorney’s office for DC, follows allegations against commander Michael Pulliam, who is accused of altering crime data and has been placed on paid leave.
