9-year-old dies due to 'brain-eating amoeba' in Kerala: Signs and symptoms

A nine-year-old girl from Thamarassery, Kerala, succumbed to a brain infection. The infection was due to Naegleria fowleri. Health officials confirmed the death. This is the fourth reported case in the district this year. Authorities are investigating the source of the infection. Experts advise caution when swimming in freshwater. They also recommend using sterile water for nasal cleaning.
