A special CBI court in Mohali convicted five retired Punjab police officers for the 1993 murder of seven men in a staged encounter in Tarn Taran. The victims, including three special police officers, were abducted, tortured, and falsely implicated in a robbery. The officers were found guilty of criminal conspiracy, murder, destruction of evidence, and forgery.
