Railways mulling over reducing or waiving clerical charges it deducts while refunding fare

IndiaTimes Monday, 30 June 2025 ()
Indian Railways is considering eliminating or reducing clerkage charges deducted from refunds for waitlisted tickets that are not confirmed or cancelled. Currently, these charges are Rs 60 for reserved AC and non-AC tickets and Rs 30 for unreserved second-class tickets. This potential change aims to provide relief to passengers, especially as online booking increases and operational expenses decrease.
