New York Shooting | Bangladeshi Immigrant Police Officer, Didarul Islam, of the NYPD shot dead

NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, 36, was killed while confronting a gunman in a deadly Midtown Manhattan shooting on Monday evening. The Bangladeshi immigrant officer died heroically defending New Yorkers inside a skyscraper near Rockefeller Centre. The shooter, 27-year-old Shane Tamura, killed four—including Islam—before turning the gun on himself. Islam, a Bronx-based officer since 2021, is survived by his wife, two children, and an unborn child. Mayor Eric Adams hailed him as a hero.
