Sirens, sporadic power cuts: Delhi set for security drill at 4pm today
Wednesday, 7 May 2025 () Delhi is gearing up for 'Operation Abhyaas,' a city-wide drill simulating emergency scenarios like air raids and evacuations, scheduled for Wednesday at 4 pm across 55 locations. The exercise, prompted by heightened tensions and recent attacks, will involve civil defense volunteers, disaster response teams, and various departments to test preparedness and response mechanisms.
Civilians defence drills were carried out in several cities across India as tensions remain high with Pakistan. Sirens were sounded and blackouts observed in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Chandigarh, Shimla and others in a bid to prepare civilians for any possible threats in case a war breaks-out between India and Pakistan.
