IAF wants surveillance UAVs that can fly in stratosphere
Friday, 2 May 2025 () Amidst ongoing border tensions, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is seeking to bolster its surveillance capabilities by acquiring three High-Altitude Platform System (HAPS) aircraft. These unmanned 'pseudo-satellites' will operate in the stratosphere, providing persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). The IAF has issued a request for information, aiming for delivery within 18 months.
In a groundbreaking display of operational preparedness, the Indian Air Force (IAF) staged an awe-inspiring airshow on the under-construction Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district. For the first time in India, the IAF executed both daytime and nighttime operations, showcasing the Ganga Expressway as a viable emergency landing facility. Fighter jets, including the Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, MiG-29, and Mirage 2000, performed high-speed flypasts and low-level maneuvers, highlighting India’s growing defense capabilities
