J&K steps up vigil against floods from glacial lake bursts
Tuesday, 1 April 2025 J&K authorities are intensifying monitoring efforts in the Himalayas to mitigate the risks of glacial lake outburst floods which pose a substantial threat to residential areas and infrastructure, including power projects. Fourteen high-risk glacial lakes have been identified, with proactive measures being employed to prevent potential overflow and consequent devastation.
In the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed 26 innocent lives, India has revoked all categories of visas issued to Pakistani nationals. As medical and short-term visas expire, several Pakistani patients and their families are being forced to return home—many in the middle of critical treatments.
