EAM Jaishankar to visit UK & Ireland to strengthen strategic partnerships
Monday, 3 March 2025 External affairs minister S Jaishankar will visit the UK and Ireland from March 4-9. In the UK, he will negotiate with foreign secretary David Lammy and engage with dignitaries and the Indian community. The visit aims to strengthen the India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership in trade, defense, health, and education. From March 6-7, he will visit Ireland to meet foreign minister Simon Harris, officials, and the Indian diaspora.
India is racing against time to seal a crucial trade agreement with the United States before the 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs ends on July 9. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, currently on a visit to Europe, revealed that talks had been ongoing even before Donald Trump’s dramatic “Liberation Day” tariffs were announced in April.
