A tragic and brutal attack unfolded in Guatemala City when unidentified gunmen stormed a funeral service and opened fire on grieving mourners. At least seven people were killed, and several others were injured in what authorities suspect is a gang-related retaliation, possibly involving members of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13).
The wake was being held for a man killed earlier in the week, and officials believe the attack was a targeted hit linked to ongoing turf wars between rival gangs. The violence has sparked fear across the capital and raised concerns about rising insecurity in the region.
