Arrest illegal if grounds not given to accused, says SC

The Supreme Court of India has mandated that investigating agencies must inform the accused of the grounds of their arrest, deeming any arrest made without this information as illegal. This is a constitutional requirement under Article 22(1) and a violation could lead to the accused's release.
