VIDEO: Wildfires CIRCLE Turkey’s Akkuyu Nuclear Plant As Drought Rages | Russian Crews Battle Flames

Wildfires have encircled Turkey’s first nuclear reactor site—the Akkuyu plant in Mersin Province—driven by a brutal drought and heatwave. Russian and Turkish firefighting aircraft, including Be‑200s and Mi‑8 helicopters, are combating the blaze alongside over 10,000 Russian staff and construction workers, joined by Turkish crews. The plant, built by Rosatom, houses four VVER‑1200 reactors scheduled to start producing power in 2025, making this crisis especially alarming. While no damage to infrastructure has been confirmed, experts warn the fire’s proximity to critical cooling systems poses serious risk. The broader wildfire season has claimed at least 13 lives, including 10 firefighters in Eskisehir, and devastated thousands of hectares. Turkish authorities have declared multiple provinces disaster zones. As global attention fixes on Akkuyu, concerns grow over nuclear safety and climate-driven disaster response in the Mediterranean region. #Akkuyu #TurkeyWildfires #NuclearRisk #Drought #Rosatom #Mersin #ClimateCrisis #Firefighters #Be200 #MediterraneanHeatwave #RussianCrew #NuclearSafety #WildfireTurkey #EskisehirFire #DisasterZone #EnergySecurity #AkkuyuPlant #MediterraneanWildfires #ForestFire #EmergencyResponse Also Read Fact Check: Is Turkey’s nuclear plant on fire due to the earthquake :: https://www.oneindia.com/fact-check/fact-check-is-turkey-s-nuclear-plant-on-fire-due-to-the-earthquake-gen-3520964.html?ref=DMDesc Switzerland plans nuclear waste storage near German border :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/switzerland-plans-nuclear-waste-storage-near-german-border-3460221.html?ref=DMDesc Zaporizhzhia: UN urges safety zone around nuclear plant :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/zaporizhzhia-un-urges-safety-zone-around-nuclear-plant-3458432.html?ref=DMDesc ~ED.346~HT.408~
