The underdeck blast triggered thick smoke and fire, prompting 18 of the 22 crew to abandon ship. The Indian Navy swiftly diverted INS Surat for rescue, while the Coast Guard joined evacuation efforts. The vessel, en route from Colombo to Mumbai, remains adrift and burning.
