Bombay high court relief for student who was denied AIIMS PG seat after missing flight
Thursday, 2 January 2025 Bombay High Court intervened on behalf of a PG medical aspirant, Kalyani Chakrawar, who was denied participation in AIIMS Kalyani admission counselling due to a missed flight. The court deemed the case exceptional and directed AIIMS authorities to allow her in the ongoing admission process. She had an all-India rank of 119.
Seventeen years after the deadly 2008 Malegaon blast rocked Maharashtra, a special NIA court in Mumbai has acquitted all seven accused — including BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit — citing lack of concrete evidence. The judgment came just one day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the Rajya Sabha that "no Hindu can ever be a terrorist." The court emphasized that terrorism has no religion and that justice cannot be based on public perception or moral bias. This landmark verdict reignites debates on communal narratives, judicial process, and political influence in terror trials.
