HC nixes death term, frees man in 1997 Pune multiple-murder case

In a shocking turn of events, the Bombay High Court acquitted Bhagwat Kale, previously sentenced to death for a 1997 quadruple murder in Pune. Kale, a former watchman, was accused of robbing and killing a family of four. The court overturned the conviction, ordering his immediate release after 13 years of legal proceedings following his re-arrest.
