Meta disagrees with CCI's penalty over user data abuse, to file an appeal

Meta plans to appeal a $26 million penalty imposed by India's antitrust watchdog, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), over allegations of user data misuse. Meta disputes the CCI's findings, asserting that a 2021 WhatsApp policy update, offering optional business features, did not compromise user privacy and provided transparency regarding data practices.
