Uttar Pradesh: Fatehpur school teacher blew the lid off pan-India conversion racket

Kalpana Singh, a school teacher from Fatehpur, UP, filed an FIR against Umar Gautam in March 2021 for luring students into conversion with financial promises. This triggered an investigation that led to the conviction of 16 people by a special NIA-ATS court in Lucknow. Twelve convicts received life sentences, including Gautam and Maulana Kalim Siddiqui.
