Maharashtra village shuns coloured idols in green quest

Residents of Sonali village in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with eco-friendly practices to appease their village god, Dhakeshwar. They use uncoloured clay idols from Mhalsavade potters through a barter system and conduct environmentally friendly immersions. The community avoids loud music and other forms of pollution during the festivities.
