'Was being playful': Delhi HC quashes plea against Dalai Lama over kissing video row

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 9 July 2024
The Delhi High Court has dismissed a PIL concerning the alleged molestation of a boy by the Dalai Lama, based on a viral video from last year. The court declared that the religious leader was "being playful" and has already apologized for the incident. In the video, the Dalai Lama was seen kissing the boy on the lips and asking him to "suck his tongue," sparking controversy on social media. The petitioner's counsel argued that while she was not trying to question the Dalai Lama's holiness, authorities should have issued a statement after taking note of the incident.
