Big relief for Sharad Pawar's NCP: EC allows party to receive public donations ahead of Maharashtra assembly polls

IndiaTimes Monday, 8 July 2024
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday accepted Sharad Pawar-led NCP's demand to accept voluntary contributions from the public due to the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Sharad Pawar's NCP-SCP, which emerged after a significant split in the NCP led by Ajit Pawar, is now permitted by the poll body to receive any amount of voluntary contributions from individuals or companies. Bharamati MP Supriya Sule, who is also Sharad Pawar's daughter, spearheaded an eight-member delegation from the party to meet the Commission at Nirvachan Sadan.
