Kanchanjunga Express accident: Goods train driver was authorised to skip red signals, says report

Internal documents have revealed that the driver of the goods train which rammed into Kanchanjunga Express Monday morning in West Bengal was authorised to cross all red signals in the route as the automatic signalling had "failed", said a news agency PTI report quoting a railway source. "Automatic Signalling has failed and you are hereby authorized to pass all automatic signals between RNI (Ranipatra Railway Station) and CAT (Chattar Hat Junction)," saID the authority letter issued to the driver of the goods train by the station master of Ranipatra.
