Tuesday, 14 May 2024 The Opposition Congress in Chhattisgarh is planning to send an eight-member fact-finding committee, which includes four legislators, to Pidiya village in Bastar's Bijapur. The purpose of the visit is to investigate the allegations made by villagers that security forces killed 12 tendu collectors in a staged encounter on May 10 and falsely claimed they were Maoists.

Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: In a major anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division neutralized 22 Maoists in two separate encounters. The first gunfight took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where 18 Maoists were killed. Another encounter in Kanker district led to the elimination of four more insurgents. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in the operation. Weapons and explosives were recovered from the sites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the success, reaffirming the government's commitment to a ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ (Naxal-free India).
