Maoists kill 2 Bastar brothers who gave land for police camp
Thursday, 2 May 2024 Maoists killed two brothers because they gave their land to the authorities to establish a police camp in Bijapur in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar on Wednesday night. Their response occurred within 48 hours after 10 insurgents, including some senior commanders, were killed in a confrontation with security forces in Abujhmarh. Maoists strangled them with ropes and dumped their bodies outside the village on Thursday.
Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: In a major anti-Naxal operation, security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division neutralized 22 Maoists in two separate encounters. The first gunfight took place in the dense forests along the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where 18 Maoists were killed. Another encounter in Kanker district led to the elimination of four more insurgents. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was injured in the operation. Weapons and explosives were recovered from the sites. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the success, reaffirming the government's commitment to a ‘Naxal-Mukt Bharat’ (Naxal-free India).
