Keir Starmer’s government is facing strong criticism after agreeing to a deal that allows EU fishing vessels continued access to UK waters for 12 more years. Scottish fishermen and politicians have slammed the agreement as a betrayal, calling it a “horror show” that endangers local communities and the fishing industry. The Scottish Government and opposition parties accuse UK ministers of ignoring devolved consent and sacrificing fishermen’s interests for political gain.
