Freed Israeli hostage describes 'impossible' hunger and painful conditions in Hamas captivity
Friday, 28 February 2025 A freed Israeli hostage has described how ropes that tied his hands together "tore into flesh", and said he suffered "impossible" hunger while in Hamas captivity.
Israel has firmly rejected a proposed five-year ceasefire with Hamas, calling it a cover for the group to rearm. The Arab-mediated proposal, backed by Egypt and Qatar, reportedly included the release of Israeli hostages. But Israeli officials insist Hamas’ long-term intentions remain hostile. Hostage families criticized the government’s stance, calling it planless. With Israel resuming attacks on Gaza, the humanitarian crisis deepens. Over 51,000 Palestinians have died since October 7. As the war escalates, hopes for peace remain elusive amid growing international concern over Gaza’s worsening conditions.
