UK to introduce 'world first' sanctions regime to target people smugglers
Wednesday, 8 January 2025 A "world first" sanctions regime which specifically targets people smugglers will be introduced by the government this year, David Lammy will announce.
The foreign secretary announced on Tuesday a raft of sanctions that will be introduced to target anyone involved in assisting illegal immigration to the UK. David Lammy said: “It's going after those who engage and provide fake passports, those who provide the dinghies, the engines, the enablers, the accountants, the lawyers.'' Report by Brooksl.
