The region also shares a border with Wales to the west, while it also shares a coastline at the North Sea. The Midlands correspond to the ceremonial counties of Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire.
