Farouk al-Sharaa: Syrian politician and diplomat (born 1938)
Farouk al-Sharaa is a Syrian politician and diplomat. He was one of the most prominent officials in the government of Ba'athist Syria and served as foreign minister from 1984 to 2006, then as vice president until 2014. He is the first cousin once removed of the current President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa.
